The topic area of medical conditions and crashes in older drivers remains wide-open for more longitudinal studies. Future studies will need to consider several methodological items in their design. For example, they should be population-based. They should consider the amount of driving by the person (exposure). The outcome variable (crash) should be well defined and the limitations of its measurement acknowledged.
