Increased incidence ratios of cancer and leukemia were only observed in cockpit crew members flying more than 5000 hours. Significantly increased ratios were observed for acute myeloid leukemia, melanoma, and other skin cancers. Do you think that the melanoma and skin cancers are related to cosmic radiation or some other factor? Many postulate that these cancers may be related to higher sun exposures among the crew compared to the general population.

Overall, there appears to be inconsistent evidence of a link between cancer and cosmic radiation.
