Long-term health effects of air travel are another issue of interest. It is postulated, for example, that chronic exposures to cosmic radiation or second-hand smoke in the air cabin increase the risk for certain cancers and leukemia in air crew. The attention being given to these chronic effects, though, is not nearly as high as that afforded the acute effects (namely DVT).
