Hypothesized risk factors for the development of DVT in air travel include long periods of immobility (most often seen on long flights), dehydration, and seating, as well as the risk factors observed for DVT in general. There is some conjecture that height (over six feet or under five feet) may be a factor because of the design of airline seats.
