It is important
to know if a disease is increasing or decreasing. How many people think that the disease
shown in this figure is increasing over the 5 year period? How many decreasing? You can tell if the data is increasing or not by using a statistical technique called regression analysis to fit the data to a straight line. A positive rate of change indicates that this disease is increasing, which is bad. A negative rate of change indicates that the disease is decreasing, which is good. |
