We used qualitative assessment on diet in this case-control study. This simple figure shows one of quantitative assessment of "Westernization" in the Japanese diet. Annual National Nutrition Surveys showed an increasing trend in meats intake and an decreasing trend in rice intake. Quantitative assessment on diet will be in need to investigate associations between diet and idiopathic sudden deafness at next stage.
