In regard to all types, people who habitually consumed more than two units of alcohol (approximately 54g of ethanol) per day were about twice (OR=1.90, 95% CI=1.12-3.21) as likely as non-drinkers to be cases.

In hearing loss subgroups, people who habitually consumed more than two units of alcohol per day were about two-and-a-half times (OR=2.49, 95% CI=1.05-5.91) as likely as non-drinkers to have flat-type hearing loss, and about five-and-a-half times as likely as non-drinkers to have profound hearing loss (OR=5.55, 95% CI=0.99-31.23).
