- Some key challenges are: Defining what "evidence-based" health promotion is; Finding relevant evidence; Assessing it; Using it appropriately; Creating new evidence; and Sharing what has been learned with others

- I would like to comment on each of these challenges

- But before I do, I think we need to make sure that we are all "singing from the same hymn book" when we talk about health promotion

- In this regard, the definition that I use, as do a majority of others in the field throughout the world, is this small definition which appeared in the 1986 Ottawa Charter for Heath Promotion
