Before designing a study, the researcher must define the question understudy and consequently make an explicit statement of the hypothesis to be tested, what we call the null hypothesis (H0) that represents the ascertainment that there is no relationship between exposure and health-related event. The alternative hypothesis (H1) would be the ascertainment that there is some relationship.
