A standard statistical adjustment exists. It decreases the at-risk population at each time point by only considering those patients that are enrolled in the clinic at that time (1). It assumes that mortality rates of patients attending the clinic are the same as those unknown to the clinic. We’ll consider the validity of this assumption in a while.
