•Ebola
virus belongs to a family of zoonotic RNA viruses, called Filoviridae,
named after their long threadlike appearance, as shown in the colorful
electron microscopy image.
•Ebola,
previously known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever, is a rare and deadly
disease caused by infection with one of the Ebola virus species (Zaire,
Sudan, Bundibugyo, or Tai Forest virus).
