Turning the report’s recommendations into law will be hugely challenging but the results could be dramatic.  In fact, a number of distinguished researchers – including Vince DeVita, former head of the NCI and co-chair of this committee – believe that if we were to effectively implement everything we know today about cancer detection and treatment, we could raise the cure rate in this nation to 75%.  That’s a huge incentive for our nation and its leaders to get serious about this report.
