Here are several charts I’ve used over the past few years to illustrate what I mean by closing the real and most important gap and realizing the significant opportunities that exist today to save lives and reduce suffering.

As we’ve redoubled our support for basic science and basic research and failed to follow through with prevention, health services, and intervention research and development, we have unintentionally widened the gap.
