The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) air flow performance test is used as an indicator of the capability of the SCBA unit to meet the NFPA air flow requirements.  The test is performed at 103 liters per minute and 30 breaths per minute.  The facepiece pressure must remain between 0 and 3.5 inches of water during the test.  The test is completed after all the end of service time alarms have activated.  If the unit has multiple alarms then all alarms must active to pass this test.
