Once the SCBA has arrived at NPPTL, the unit is initially stored under lock until the evaluation is performed.  The evaluation of the involved SCBA is a component by component review.  Part numbers of the major components are noted if visible and the condition of each part is determined.  In addition, any approval labeling is identified and noted.  From this evaluation and inspection, the approval configuration is determined and if the unit is suitable for testing.
