The Fire Fighter Fatality and Injury Program evaluates Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) that have been involved in a Line of Duty Death or Injury.  The evaluation is performed to determine the conformance of the SCBA involved in the incident to the NIOSH approval requirements found in Title 42 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 84.  The evaluation consists of an inspection of the SCBA and if the unit has not sustained significant damage, testing.  The results of this evaluation can be used in the reduction of firefighter injuries and fatalities.
