The results for urban/rural status are presented separately for men and women because we found an interaction between urban/rural status and gender.

Rural living was found to be an important determinant of poor health amongst women but not men. Education had an impact in the age-sex adjusted model, those with lower education having worse health, but this did not remain significant in the final model.
