Results: I will go through the 4 things we wanted to examine in this study, starting with the distribution of health.

- 1/5 rate their health as good/very good

- Just under ? as average

- 1/3 as poor/very poor

This indicates that Ukrainians have even worse levels of self perceived health than Russians and considerably worse than western European countries where generally <10% report poor/very poor health

[NB The worse levels compared with Russia could reflect the bleaker economic situation in Ukraine compared with Russia (GNP in Ukraine was approx. $1000 per capita compared with $2300 in Russia in 1998) and the further economic decline since the 1998 Russian Survey was conducted]
