This qualitative research study took place in a large Canadian urban centre. Persons were approached in front of shelters, parks and drop-in sites where people who are homeless tend to hang out. The researcher and research assistant approached individuals to ask them if they were homeless and if so, for their willingness to be interviewed. While some declined to be interviewed, the majority were surprisingly willing to talk. Many thanked us for listening   to their stories.
