For parent initiating remarks, we offer parents at least 4 diferent types that can be made…

a) the first concerns statements that label the child’s behavior

b) the second concerns statements that serve to inform children about the nature of their feelings

c) the third assure them of their standing with parents

d) the fourth is reframing.

Certainly other types of statements can be made, but we present these with the idea that parents can make simple, to the point statements that help children better interpret their experience.
