Despite a very vocal anti-biotech presence, Indian farmers have adopted biotech cotton at an astounding rate.  The area planted in Bt cotton expanded from a mere 50,000 hectares in 2002 to 8.4 million hectares in 2009 -- that’s an 168-fold increase in less than a decade.  Farmers aren’t fools.
