Where Will the Food Come From in a Hotter, More Crowded World?  by Nina Fedoroff  Uploading date: May 10, 2012

My three years of service from 2007 to 2010 as Science Adviser to the US Secretary of State and to the Administrator of the US Agency for International Development (more generally known as US AID) took me to many different countries and gave me a broad overview of the problems facing our planet.  By the end of my time at State, I was deeply concerned that we had not even begun to address the critical issues of food and water anywhere in the world.  My objective over the past year has been to identify sensible ways forward toward increasing our ability to feed a still-growing population in the face of climate change.  What I will do over the next hour is share with you what I think is in store for us globally and what I see as the ways forward.
