Don’t recap used needles

Don’t remove needle from syringe

Dispose of needles/vials/syringes in sharp container

Do not transfer sharps from one container to another

place where sharps are used

dispose of according to procedures

replace when ¾ full

Needle stick Injury

Allow the wound to bleed freely

Cleanse area/puncture site with warm water and soap

Go directly to Emergency Department for risk assessment (as per your RHA protocol)

Report incident immediately to supervisor

Personal protective equipment, infection control measures

According to PHAC recommandations

Handwashing, use of hand santizer
