Where do we want to be?

The answer to this question forms the basis for developing goals and objectives for the group. Goals are broad statements related to achieving the vision of a group. Objectives are more internally focused statements of the means for accomplishing a stated goal. They are expressed in terms of the results a group wishes to achieve in the medium to long term. Objectives should reflect the underlying reasons for the group’s purpose and relate to the expectations and requirements of all the major stakeholders. Both goals and objectives should be SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, and Timely.

How do we get there?

Strategies and Action Plans provide the details for achieving objectives. Strategies are the means to an end, and should define the expected outcomes. Action plans specify the actions required to implement strategies and identify the appropriate timing and accountable person.
