The local news media, NOAA (All Hazards Alert Radio) and the National Weather Service at http://www.weather.gov are reliable sources of information during hurricane events.

To help you be more prepared for this storm and other emergency situations, check the following sites:

-      Personal preparedness at http://ready.umdnj.edu (Get a Kit, Make a Plan, Be Informed, Get Involved)

-      FEMA hurricane preparedness: http://www.ready.gov/america/beinformed/hurricanes.html

As you consider your own safety preparations, please note that the time to prepare is today.

The National Weather Service has indicated that coastal and river flooding could be “unprecedented” and “historical.”  Some parts of New Jersey are already being evacuated.  Check your municipal/county emergency information sites to see what actions are being taken in your local areas (send by Stan Weiss).
