Partners for a Healthy Community, Anderson, SC
This community has a number of projects, some of which include:
-Partners Healthwise Initiative p
laced 146,000 copies of the Healthwise Handbook in households in three counties in South Carolina and one county in northeastern Georgia.
-Health Ministry
trained over 20 nurses to work with local churches to help congregations promote well-being of body, mind, and spirit among members. A major support is the Parish Nurse/Congregational Health Promoter Program. Nurses provide information to raise the health knowledge of a congregation; provide confidential health counseling as needed; recruit, train and supervise volunteers who serve as Congregational Health Promoters and expand the scope of services available to the congregation; and promote understanding of the relationship between lifestyle, attitudes, faith, and well being.
-“Out of the Blues” depression support groups meet twicbr weekly for people finding difficulty in coping with a particular situation or experiencing long bouts with “the blues.”
