D. Beth Kennedy, MS is Director of Education for SC AHEC and an Associate Professor in the College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina. She holds a Master’s Degree in Biometry from MUSC and has been employed there for 21 years filling numerous evaluation, educational and administrative roles. In 1995 Ms. Kennedy completed a five-month training course on building healthy communities facilitated by Tyler Norris. She also participated in a three-year demonstration project of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement on applying continuous improvement to health professions education. Ms. Kennedy teaches leadership, continuous improvement, and over the past ten years, has participated in and facilitated strategic planning with the SC AHEC, the College of Health Professions, and Pro Hampton County (a Healthy Communities movement). Ms. Kennedy has written numerous grants, most recently the interdisciplinary training project now known as SCRIPT, which incorporates continuous improvement into its overall structure. Ms. Kennedy brings this expertise and experience to these public health modules. She also served as project director.

Laurine Charles is an Associate Professor and the Coordinator of Academic Affairs and Diversity Officer in the College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina, and served as the Curriculum Consultant on this grant project. A Medical Technologist and Specialist in Blood Bank by training, she has been on the faculty at MUSC for 15 years.
