Given the universality of epidemiological relationships, it is also likely that the same principle holds for Russia and Moscow, if sufficiently accurate data is made available on the social determinants of health (Balarajan, 1989; Carstairs and Morris, 1989; Forsdahl, 1977; Hart, 1990; Marmot and McDowall, 1986; Marmot et al., 1984; Marmot et al., 1991; Rose, 1985; Rose, 1990a).
