Health practitioners are encouraged to apply screening programs as part of their routine practice with a main objective of reducing disease incidence among healthy individuals, as well as, reducing morbidity, disability and mortality among affected individuals. Appropriateness of factors under study should be assured before instituting a screening program. The program should be evaluated for its reliability, feasibility, validity, performance and effectiveness to attain maximum benefit.
