Lifetime asthma diagnosis (2005):

 

11.2% of people in the United States had a diagnosis of asthma over the course of their lifetime.

 

By sex: 12.1% of females had a lifetime asthma diagnosis vs. 10.2% of males.

 

By race: 8.9% of Hispanics had a lifetime asthma diagnosis.  8.4% of Asians had a lifetime asthma diagnosis. 12.1% of American Indians/Alaska natives had a lifetime asthma diagnosis.  13.1% of Blacks had a lifetime asthma diagnosis. 10.9% of Whites had a lifetime asthma diagnosis.

 

By age: 10.7% of adults (ages 18 and over) had a lifetime asthma diagnosis. 12.7% of children (ages 0-17) had a lifetime asthma diagnosis.
