If medication is not enough to control heart disease other techniques may be used.

Angioplasty: The surgical repair of a blood vessel,

Endarterectomy: a procedure to remove or bypass the fatty deposits, or blockage in an artery, most frequently the carotid artery.

Thrombolytic therapy - is the use of medication to dissolve clots in order to prevent tissue damage.

Bypass surgery –It's sometimes called CABG ("cabbage"). The surgery reroutes, or "bypasses," blood around clogged arteries to improve blood flow and oxygen to the heart.

All of these are performed to improve blood flow and involve various degrees of risk including stroke, bleeding, anesthesia risks, heart attack or death.
