Prevalence:

Eight million American women are living with heart disease –

10% of women ages 45 - 64 have heart disease and the percent increases to 25% by age 65 and over.

Six million women today have had a heart attack, angina or both.

Nearly 13% of women age 45 and over have had a heart attack.

435,000 American women have heart attacks each year; Their average age is 74 but nine thousand women have a heart attack before they are 45 years old.

Four million women suffer from angina, and women make up 56 percent of all admissions for unspecified chest pain.
