OS model in education: Open Course Ware.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced to open all their lectures on the web for free of charge. (Apr.2001)
They open lecture notes, course outlines, reading lists, assignment:
(MIT offers courses in architecture, engineering, history etc.)
It is designed not only for the domestic users but also for the global utilization.
Copyright remains to the author. Lecture can be copied or redistributed with permission from the copyright holders.
This project is just launched. The first OCW lectures will be open in 2002 and 500 lectures will be open in two year. They expect to open all lectures in MIT in the next ten years.
