The Greek iatros readily accepted the main alternative healers in his community, the temple healers who could be found in the Temple of Asculepios.  These two forms of medicine, the secular, philosophically trained, rational iatros and the faith healing temple healers peacefully coexisted for centuries in ancient Greece.
