The first world overshoot day was Dec.19th 1987,23 years ago and the situation has continued to worsen.In 1990 the date was earlier, again in 1996 so that now world overshoot day comes in early October.

 

So the waste products of planetary life and activity  are incompletely recycled, they begin to accumulate and the toxic burden to increase.

 

We use up our capacity in 9 months instead of 12.We need the equivalent of a quarter to a half more worlds to deal with waste accumulated and cope with current outputs……..but we are a spaceship earth.

 

Time is running out, there may be a critical tipping point beyond which no human action can make a difference
