When we think of studies, we usually think of the laboratory. However, most studies associated with Public Health do not take place in a laboratory, but are observational in nature, and uses the principles of Epidemiology.

Epidemiology studies the distribution of disease within and among populations. This lecture covers those studies based on data that are commonly available and collected by institutions. Some data sources are collected specifically to study disease, while other data sources are collected for other reasons but are gathered and analyzed to look at the distribution of disease.
