We did not know the time elapsed between the last cigarette smoked and urine collection. Therefore, urine cotinine may not have accurately reflected exposure among women smoking irregularly.

We did not collect information regarding brands of cigarette smoked, or how cigarettes were smoked (the percent of the cigarette smoked or the depth of inhalation). Some of the variation in urine cotinine concentration may have been a reflection of these factors.
