The previous figures show that there are racial differences in death rates, causes of death, and in commonly measured SES indicators. The next section addresses two issues:

1) Whether the differences in SES indicators affect health - both in the broad sense and in various specific measurements, and

2) What are those specific measurements? A model is proposed to help frame our questions and thinking.
