Recent comment from general practices and the following article suggest that most UK field isolates of FIV have little effect on life expectancy whilst FeLV is always bad news (ref Addie et al., Long term impact of FCoV, FeLV, FIV, Vet Rec April 8th 2000, 146, 419-424). Addie also comments how many experimentally infected cats at Glasgow vet school have also now remained healthy for 10 years.
