Sheep and goat pox are often fatal with visceral as well as dermal lesions. They are prevalent in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Mediterranean countries. It is highly infectious, airborne-spread being common, with prolonged survival off the host (6 months plus). Annual vaccination is recommended. Zoonotic.
