Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common infections in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that by 50 years of age, at least 80% of sexually active adults will have acquired genital HPV infection.  It is estimated that 6.2 million people in the United States become infected with HPV each year.
