Diagnosis: (This applies to both PI3 and BRSV)
4-fold rise in ELISA antibody in paired serum samples from several animals.
Virus isolation early in disease.
IF on nasal aspirates or bronchial epithelium.

Control:

Correct ventilation and stocking density; avoid mixing different ages from different locations in same airspace.

Current vaccines utilise a temperature sensitive mutant which gives local protection after intranasal inoculation at 34OC and does not replicate at 370C.
