This figure illustrates the number of adults in developing countries with diabetes in the year 2000 and projections for 2030.  As indicated, the number of individuals with diabetes in all age groups is predicted to more than double by 2030, with the largest proportion occurring in the 45-64 year age group.  It is anticipated that the majority of newly diagnosed T2D individuals will come from India, China, Indonesia, Pakistan, Brazil, Bangladesh, Japan, Philippines, and Egypt.
