Prevention:

In endemic areas control is by swill boiling.
Isolation from other pigs.
Isolation of domestic pigs from wild pigs and scavenger pigs.
Pigs are kept on concrete, not soil, to prevent tick infestation.
Vaccines have not been effective.

Slaughter:

Depopulation and disinfection of entire endemic area. Then serology, ELISA on recombinant protein, to check surrounding area for carrier pigs.
