When we talk about changes in mental status , for the sake of simplicity, we can discuss changes in content of mentation or changes in the level of arousal. Other speakers will talk about changes in content, and , because of time constraints, in the rest of this lecture I will be speaking pre - dominantly about changes in level of awakeness (stupor and coma).
