Each virus species has 1-250 structural proteins. These are usually very antigenic.

On each protein are 4-6 antigenic sites which each comprise 1-3 epitopes (see cover of veterinary viruses). Thus a virus with 4 structural proteins could have about 20 antigenic sites comprising 40 epitopes.
