In looking at the aggregated numbers of patients who received DSME in primary care versus hospital programs – even with all of the limitations of our new primary care initiative – significantly more patients received DSME at points of service in the practice. Keep in mind one nurse educator supported by an RD versus more than 10 educators working in their hospital programs 5 days/week. We expect as the program grows with more group visits and more marketing through pride – our numbers will too.
