Meta-analysis falls under a broader classification of reviews known as systematic reviews. In general, there are two types of systematic reviews, (1) quantitative (meta-analysis), and (2) qualitative. Both types of reviews follow the same rigorous steps, which you’ll learn about next, EXCEPT that a qualitative review does not combine the endpoints for statistical analysis, usually because it’s not appropriate to combine them into any type of common metric.
