Supply of professional helpers, in general, is insufficient for those needing help, as we have seen.

AA clinicians: 5x more likely to see AA patients than are white clinicians. But only 2% of psychologists and psychiatrists are AA (4% of social workers).

In addition, location of these practitioners (urban areas) does not match where most AA’s living in rural South and many urban pratitioners do not accept Medicaid.

Finally—STIGMA against seeking mental health services is strong
