Talking Points:

Over the past 4 years, major research studies have shown us that we need to go beyond glucose control. UKPDS made it clear that blood pressure control can have a major role in reducing morbidity and mortality. The 4S and West of Scotland studies showed that controlling cholesterol levels in people who don't have diabetes and in people who have it improves outcomes. The same thing was found in reviewing the research on aspirin therapy.
